Project Overview

The sustainable agriculture practices and ARR project Verra VCS 3115 is one of the World's first such GHG mitigation project which is registered and issued, empowering 29,739 farmers in Karnataka, India to generate high-quality removal-based verified carbon credits.

More than 80% of the farmers in this project are marginal and subsistence farmers. The project is mainly a removals project with a combination of soil carbon and ARR, amounting to around 92% of the credits during the first five year verification. Around 8% of the certified credits during October 2017-September 2022 were related to avoidance of synthetic fertilizers.

Share of removal credits are likely to increase their share from 92% upwards in the coming verification cycles. A total of 996,584 VCUs are certified pertaining to the monitoring period from October 2017 to September 2022 vintages. The project is rated by a UK-based reputed rating agency Sylvera as BBB.
